India with a
population of more than 100 billion is the largest democracy in the world.
Nevertheless the employment factor has always been a grave a concern for the
economy. The average financial situation of a huge part of this population is
below the standard line of poverty. If we have a look in to the skills of the
working class, then it would be evident that mid skilled workers forms a lion’s
share. If we go by definition then mid skilled workers are those who have the
basic education till ten plus two sometimes followed by a vocational diploma
course. They usually include clerical jobs or assistant jobs in technical
installations and repairs.
An insight into
the Indian job market for these mid skilled workers shows a very steep fall in
the vacancies creating a massive unemployment problem. As a saviour to this
issue the various job portals come in picture. In fact gone are the days of
employment news and combing the newspaper for job vacancies. With the current
advent of technology and communication searching for suitable jobs is at now
someone’s finger tips. These job portals have made life much easier for both
the job seekers as well as the employers.
These job
portals work closely with the job seekers and employers understanding the
specific requirements of each of them. This helps these portals to permute and
combine the best matching couple of the job searchers and employers. It is
needless to mention that they are successful almost all the time. In order to
build such a network they lay a strong foundation of contacts. With their huge
database of contacts they serve the population fair and square. However in
order to enhance their service they extend the series of contacts to both the
employers and job seekers by means of job fairs where members of both the
sections have access to free mingling and browse for both required skill-set
and opportunities. While the job fairs witness occasional tangible association
these portals also maintain a very high performing website where one can
virtually get in touch either with the job seekers and employers.
It should be
kept in mind that there are other important players in the success story of the
portals. They arrange for regular workshops where these mid skilled workers get
a chance of sharpening their existing skills with the latest technologies or
acquire new skills to expand his/her horizon of the available skill-sets in the
industry. There are also seminars which also occur to introduce these workers
to the masters of their respective professions with real life scenarios and
examples in order to enrich their own experiences and thus enhance the quality
of their respective jobs. Another feature that makes these job portals
successful is the professional help for writing their resumes that can attract
respective employers. They also provide the facility to registered customers in
exchange of a small fee to have the access to call either job seekers or
employers as in when needed.
