The key to any organization’s growth and success depends on its human capital. Recruitment process across all companies has changed drastically within the last few decades. Gone are those days when the in-house managers provided crude ads in newspapers in search of recruits. Today it has become a thriving industry often called as job portals or “head-hunters”.
In a populous country like India where the ratio of experienced individual is less than that of inexperienced ones, the role of such job portals becomes extremely important in the placement of such unskilled resources. The college to company journey might not be as smooth as one expects to be. Even though on-campus placements form a major role in recruiting freshers, still there are quite a large number of youth who are left jobless post their college-degrees.
The saviors in such situations are the numerous job portal sites. These sites with their baskets of jobs on exhibition create a career avenue for the skill-less and jobless youngsters. They have an array of job opportunities to choose from which suits ones profile.
The modus operandi of these job-portal companies include involving the companies which require resources and provide college students as interns or apprentices thereby giving them well deserved experience and often saving the company’s cost to hire skilled resources .It has also been observed that these portals usually facilitate tie-ups between  various educational institutes and prosperous organizations for on-campus recruitment. They not only provide job opportunities but also provide career counseling to show the way forward to confused souls.
These job portals often plan and deliver career fairs, exhibitions, events, etc in community settings and colleges. This is done to ensure that deserving candidates are not far from their dream jobs. Nowadays they have even started to target schools where they provide career management seminars along with the general events.
Such portals also offer memberships as well with nominal fees. They help the members to recognize their skill-sets by arranging various trainings and interactive seminars. They do not stop on this, but as a learning curve they record summarize and document the subscribers’ experiences in order to enhance their performance and services. Some of the job portals also promote entrepreneurship indirectly in the form of ads over their web pages. These ads give your investors details for one’s would-be or new found business.
In conclusion these job-portals play a pivotal role in managing the youth employment of nation. They are the ones who lighten up our career pathways where we tread according to our own needs and ease. In a nation of over one billion population maintaining and managing job flow across various cities and races is not a matter of joke. Still they ensure the smooth running of the show practically effortlessly. Hats-off to their perseverance and endurance! Nevertheless it should also be remembered that providing jobs to the unskilled class of job seekers plays a major role in up-holding the economy
